A better colour scheme for Visual Studio

We don’t use the default colour scheme in Visual Studio. Over time we found it wasn’t as easy to work with as it could be, so we changed it. We tried various settings, and eventually settled on a theme based around the Inconsolata font on a dark background. Inconsolata is a fixed width, open typeface designed for higher resolution screens – we first started using it when we moved to larger LCD screens. The amount of screen space we now have also made the default white background have a negative impact, so we’ve changed that to very dark grey.

You can download Inconsolata from here: http://www.levien.com/type/myfonts/inconsolata.html

Our theme, as a vssettings file, is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6818466/Codeweavers.vssettings

To import the theme go to Tools->Import and Export Settings… and follow the wizard. This theme should also work for Visual Web Developer.
